L & D...and No, I Don't Mean Laura & Darin!

I have been having the belly tightening for weeks now. On Monday, it got to a point that was starting to make me a little nervous. It was constant, which doesn't really follow the contraction "rule", but it was becoming increasingly more uncomfortable as the day progressed. I called the nurse in the morning and left a message saying it wasn't urgent. By about 1:45, I called back because I felt like it was becoming urgent! She told me to go straight to Labor and Delivery just to be certain I wasn't contracting and to check in on the peanut. I got hooked up to the machine and instantly little Pixie was kicking away at the monitor! I was monitored for about an hour and during that time, her heart rate was perfect and I didn't have one contraction, which I figured.

The nurse came back in after consulting with Dr. S. and said the dreaded bed rest phrase again. I was told to take it easy until my appointment with him on Thursday afternoon. I did go into work on Tuesday (shhh), but then worked from home the rest of the week. Surprisingly enough, I did feel better by Thursday afternoon when I went to see him. Guess maybe resting does help :). Our appointment was just a check up - measured my belly (which was actually measuring 32 weeks at 33 weeks), checked her heartbeat, which was 135 and then went over any concerns. Dr. S. did want me to stay on bed rest, but I convinced him that I could do half work days if I promised to go home and rest when the half day was over. It seems like bed rest is not necessary since I wasn't actually contracting, but I also know that these next 3-4 weeks are crucial - need to get to full term. So, if that means taking it easy, I am on it!! Starting on Monday, I will be working half days...I promise!

Next week starts the twice a week visit schedule. Mondays will be a biophysical ultrasound and a Non-Stress Test and then Thursday will be an appointment with another NST. Next week I am doing Tuesday and Friday though because of the holiday. I honestly CANNOT wait to get an ultrasound...it's been so long since I have seen her! I am excited to be able to see her sweet face again. Until then, I am taking it easy and making sure I keep us both healthy!!

32 weeks!
