Gwendolyn was baptized this morning, December 22, 2013. This was a few months later than we had planned, but it worked out perfectly. I think she is a great age to do it and we were able to have Josh Erickson do it, which was important to me. He was one of the first people to meet her and pray for her after she was born, so I wanted him to be a part of this special moment.
Gwendolyn looked like a complete doll in her white dress. Gma Kim bought her a little pearl bracelet and I used a rhinestone headband - she looked beautiful! She did amazing during the actual baptism. She never got fussy at all and just kind of studied Josh with her serious face as he baptized her. Big Brother wanted to come up and stand with us too and I am happy he could be a part of that special moment too. After the baptism was over, we went back and sat down. Gwendolyn LOVED watching/listening to the choir! It was so neat to watch her take it all in. But, once the sermon started, she got a little antsy and we had to go walk around. In all fairness, she had been content for over a half hour, so I figured she would get restless about halfway through the service. We got to spend some quality time together looking at the church's Christmas decorations and watching the snow fall!
When the service was over, we took some pictures and then headed over to my parents' house for a little breakfast, cake and presents. Gwendolyn fell asleep on the way over and slept for a good hour in her car seat! We all just ate and chatted while she slept. It was lovely having family together to celebrate Gwendolyn. This time of year is so busy, so it meant a lot for people to be a part of this day. When she woke up, we opened gifts and had some cake. It was heading into nap time for Jameson, so we slowly got everyone packed up and headed home. The princess fell asleep on the way home too and ended up sleeping in her car seat for close to two hours! Apparently, being the center of attention is exhausting! Gwendolyn looked and acted like a complete angel all day - very fitting for a baptism!
